[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole of the red-striped hairy chiton of the Chitonidae family, the Hakodate chiton of the Chitonidae family and various chitons.

[Original morphology] 1. Red-striped hairy-skinned chiton, body oval, 27-33mm long, 16-21mm wide. The body color varies greatly, mostly gray-green or blue-gray. The back and abdomen are flat, the head is below the feng, there are no eyes or antennae, and there is a short, downward-curved snout with a mouth in the middle and very long teeth and tongue inside the mouth. The back is bulging in the middle, with 8 stone flakes arranged in a shingle-like pattern, and the dark green flakes have 3 red bands in the middle. The top of the front head shell is relatively smooth, with low flat granular protrusions on the edge, and the embedded plate in front of the ventral surface has 5 tooth cracks. The length and width of the shell pieces near the two ends are slightly similar, the middle shell piece is slightly wider, there are longitudinal ribs at the peak, there are larger grain-like protrusions on the wings, and there is a tooth crack at the wing position of the embedded piece. The tail shell is relatively small, with a slightly concave center at the front edge and an arc-shaped rear edge. There are granular protrusions on the surface, and there is a tooth crack on each side of the embedded rear area. There is a circle of mantle around the shell, forming a wider ring band that is dark green in color, with 18 bundles of spines alternately arranged around it. The belly is flat, the feet are flat and wide, almost occupying the entire belly. A narrow mantle groove is formed between the foot and the mantle. There are 22-24 pairs of gills in the groove. The length of the gill row is about 2/3 of the length of the foot. The genital pore and excretory pore are located slightly behind the mantle groove. The anus is located at the back of the foot.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: 1. It lives on rocks in the intertidal zone and can live in shallow seas several meters deep in the north. It can crawl slowly among the seaweed and likes to attach itself to the cracks of rocks or in the shade.

[Properties] Identification of properties: (1) The red-striped chiton is oval in shape, with 8 calcareous shell plates arranged in a shingle-like pattern on the back. The shell is dark green with three red bands in the middle. The annulus is wide, dark green, and has 18 bundles of spines on it. It has a fishy smell and a salty taste.

【Chemical composition】 The whole body contains taurine, amino acid, fat, protein, etc. It also contains two new carotenoids: (3S, 4R, 3R, 6R)-β, ε-carotene-3, 4, 3-triol [(3S, 4R, 3R, 6R)-β, ε-carotene-3, 4, 3-triol] and (3R, 4R, 3R)-β, β-carotene-3, 4-3-triol [(3R, 4R, 3R)-β, β-carotene-3, 4, 3-triol].

[Identification] Physical and chemical identification (1) Take an appropriate amount of crude powder of this product, add petroleum ether to extract, concentrate the extract to dryness, add 2ml of chlorinated water to dissolve the residue and transfer it into a small test tube. Add 1ml of concentrated sulfuric acid dropwise along the wall of the tube and let it stand for 10 minutes. The upper layer will appear orange-red and have blue fluorescence, and the interface between the two liquids will appear as a blood-red ring.
