Inflorescence terminal, spherical, 12-17mm in diameter, brown, with numerous spikelets; spikelets narrowly needle-shaped, about 7mm long, shiny, with 7-8 scales, 2-3 flowers; scales ovate-lanceolate to elliptic-ovate, brown, flowered scales are larger, with acute tips, midrib raised on the back, the top 1-2 scales have male flowers, the lower one is female flower; inferior setae 4-6, varying in length, about 1/2 or 1/3 the length of the nutlet; stamens 2 or 3, anthers linear; style slender, base swollen, stigma 1-2, short. The nutlets are obovate, biconvex, 1.5-1.8mm long, dark brown, with fine ciliate edges on the upper edge, fine dots on the surface, and a persistent stylopodium triangular. Flowering and fruiting period is from May to November.
