Agrimony poisoning

Herba Centifoliae is a traditional Chinese medicinal material. Although it can astringe and stop bleeding and treat diarrhea, the drug has side effects and can cause high blood pressure, chest tightness, shortness of breath, etc. Therefore, when consuming Herba Centifoliae, you must pay attention to the dosage, as excessive consumption can cause poisoning. Under normal circumstances, the dosage of cranesbill should not exceed 20g. If it exceeds this range, it will cause symptoms of poisoning.

Crane grass, also known as exhaustion grass, melon grass, old cattle tendon, and wolf bud grass. It comes from the above-ground part of the Rosaceae plant. Harvest in winter and spring before new plants sprout. The whole plant is harvested in summer and autumn and cut into pieces and used raw as medicine.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that it is bitter and flat in nature, and has the effects of astringent hemostasis, tonifying deficiency, eliminating accumulation, stopping dysentery, killing insects, detoxifying and reducing swelling. It is mostly used to treat various bleeding diseases such as hemoptysis and hematemesis, diarrhea, dysentery, sores, furuncles, carbuncles, ascariasis, red worms and other insect diseases, as well as weakness, fatigue, sallow complexion and other symptoms. It is also widely used to treat Trichomonas vaginitis, pancytopenia, arrhythmia, diabetes, cancer and other diseases. In particular, it has an outstanding hemostatic effect and can be used regardless of the location of the bleeding, whether the condition is cold or hot, or whether it is deficiency or excess. It can be taken orally or used externally; it can be used alone or in a formula. The general decoction dosage is 10-15 grams, and the maximum amount can be up to 100 grams.

Contraindications of Agrimony: People with high blood pressure should not use it, and those with non-stop bleeding should not use it. Its allergic reactions include chest tightness, shortness of breath, palpitations, irritability, dizziness, sweating, pale complexion, cold limbs, chills, and low blood pressure. In severe cases, there may also be dizziness, flushed face and profuse sweating. Toxic retrobulbar neuritis causes blindness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, flushing, and low blood pressure.

Daily dosage of Herba Agrimoniae: 12~30g; for external use, grind appropriate amount into powder and apply to the affected area.

1. Rinse your mouth with boiled water

30 grams of Agrimonia root. Boil in water, remove the residue, take the juice and rinse your mouth. Twice daily. It can cure oral ulcers.

2. Making ointment

Appropriate amounts of agrimony, seaweed, and poria cocos. Add water to boil until thick juice is obtained. After filtering, add appropriate amount of honey and stir evenly. Cool into a jelly-like state. Take in 3 doses. Regular consumption can prevent cancer.

3. Decoction

5 grams each of Herba Agrimoniae and Pollen Typhae, 8 grams each of Sophora japonica seeds and Bletilla striata. Decoction in water, remove the residue, take the juice, and drink with warm water.
