[Source] Medicinal material source: The algae of the plant Halicha ciliata of the family Lathyris.

[Original morphology] The algae are dark blue-green or dark green, spherical or hemispherical, with a diameter of (0.5-)1-2cm, and the larger ones can reach more than 5cm. They are usually flat and sticky. It is solid in childhood and has a smooth surface, but gradually becomes hollow and wrinkled. The body is composed of many algal filaments. The lower algal filaments grow intertwined, while the upper ones are mostly upright, branching in parallel or arranged radially. The ends of the filaments are pointed, and when growing like hair, they are branched in a "V" shape. The diameter of the filaments at the base is 3-5μm, and the diameter of the middle and upper parts is 6-9μm. The shape of the algal filament cells is irregular, and the interstitial heteromorphic cells are wider than the nutrient cells, with a diameter of about 5-8μm, and are spherical or elliptical.
