[Original form] Shrub or small tree, 3-10m high. The twigs are brown or gray, nearly quadrangular, glabrous, and densely covered with small scales. Simple leaves, opposite; petiole 3-5mm long, covered with rusty scales; leaf blade leathery, narrowly lanceolate to oblong-elliptic, 3-10cm long, 1-2cm wide, apex acuminate, with long convex tip, base gradually narrowed, leaf margin slightly recurved, glabrous on both sides or with fine hairs on the midrib above, densely covered with rusty scales below. The panicles are axillary; the peduncle is ribbed and slightly covered with rusty scales; the bracts are linear or scaly, about 1mm long; the pedicel is 0-1mm long; the flowers are white, bisexual; the calyx is small, cup-shaped, and toothed; the corolla is 2.5-3.5mm long, the corolla tube is nearly as long as the calyx, and the lobes are elliptical; the filaments are extremely short, the anthers are oblong, hidden, and slightly shorter than the corolla lobes; the ovary is nearly round, the style is short, nearly as long as the corolla tube, and the stigma is capitate. The fruit is broadly elliptical or nearly spherical, 7-9mm long, 4-6mm in diameter, and dark brown when ripe. The flowering period is from April to August, and the fruiting period is from August to November.
