[Original form] Smooth-leaved ground-intolerant vine. Root tuberous. The stems are herbaceous, hollow and striated. Simple leaves are alternate; petiole is 5-15cm long or longer; leaf blade is papery or membranous, broadly ovate or nearly round, 4-14cm long, 4-12cm wide, with rounded base, slightly angular upper edge, glabrous on both sides, pale beneath; 5 palmate veins upward, convex beneath. Male inflorescences are axillary or borne on leafless old branches, with a peduncle 4-8cm long, usually with 6 slender umbels; pedicels are filiform; sepals, 3 outer ones are linear-oblong, 3 inner ones are inverted spoon-shaped; petals are 3, thick, inverted spoon-shaped, often 3-lobed at the apex, with small granular glands above the middle; polyanthemum stamens are 1.50-2mm long. Infructescence with contracted pedicel, 1.5 cm long; fruiting pedicel 0.5-0.8 mm long. The drupe is obovate and flat, with 20-25 small transverse ribs on the upper side of the mid-rib on the back of the pit, which are thin and thickened at both ends. Flowering period is June-July.
