[Source] Medicinal material source: the root bark and leaves of the Guangxi Dogtooth Flower of the Apocynaceae family.

【Original form】 Shrub, up to 5m tall. Glabrous except for flowers; branches and twigs with lenticels, internodes up to 2-3cm. The base of the pseudostipules is enlarged and connate, oval, and up to 2 mm long. Leaves are opposite; petiole is 5-12mm long; leaf blade is firm and papery, elliptical-ovate, 5-15cm long, 3-6.5cm wide, with short acuminate tip, cuneate base, dark green on the surface, light green on the back; midrib is sunken on the leaf surface and convex on the back; lateral veins are 12-14 pairs, rising in an arc. The inflorescence is axillary, usually dichotomous, born at the top of the branchlets, with 6-7 flowers; the peduncle is 3-4cm long; the bracts and bracteoles are ovate; the flowers are 5-somere: the buds are cylindrical; the calyx is broadly bell-shaped, without glands on the inner surface of the base, and the sepals are ciliate; the corolla is white and caducous early; the upper part of the corolla tube is rotated to the right, the base of the lobes is covered to the left, and there are fine soft hairs on both sides; the stamens are born near the throat; the anthers are nearly arrow-shaped; the stigma is 2-lobed. The follicles are twin, 150° apart, oblong-lanceolate, with a short beak; the fruit stalk is about 1 cm long and the fruit is 5-6 cm long. There are 5-6 seeds in each follicle. The flowering period is from May to September, and the fruiting period is from September to November.
