[Original form] Shrub, about 3 meters high. Branchlets and young parts densely covered with yellow-brown soft hairs. Leaves are opposite; oblong to oblong-lanceolate, 12-22 cm long, 4-7 cm wide, with acute apex, obtuse cuneate base, serrated edges, often hairy on veins above, densely covered with yellow-brown hairs below, with 10-14 pairs of lateral veins; leaves are thick, 1-2 cm long. Cymes are axillary; stalks are 1 to 2 cm long, densely covered with long hairs; flowers are sessile, densely packed at the top of the inflorescence; calyx is cone-shaped, covered with soft hairs, with 4 pointed teeth; corolla is tubular, 4-lobed, purple-red, and covered with hairs; stamens are 4, prominent, anthers are longitudinally dehiscent; ovary has 4 chambers. The drupe is spherical, about 1.5 mm in diameter, lavender, and hidden in the persistent calyx. The flowering period is from autumn to the following spring.

[Habitat distribution] Grown in plains or foothills. Distributed in Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong, Taiwan and other places.
