[Source] Medicinal material source: The rhizome of the Liliaceae plant.

[Original form] Longleaf bamboo root is a perennial erect herb, 60-100cm tall, glabrous. The rhizome is bead-shaped, 1-2 cm thick. Leaves are alternate, with short petioles; leaf blades are elliptical or elliptical with needles, 10-20 (-27) cm long, 2.5-6 (-10) cm wide, with acuminate or slightly caudate tips, and glabrous on both sides. Flowers 5-10, clustered in leaf axils, white, nearly erect; pedicels 12-15mm long, glabrous; perianth 8-10mm long; slightly gourd-shaped due to constriction of perianth tube mouth, 6 lobes, narrowly elliptic, 4-6mm long; corona lobes fleshy; anthers linear, 2.5-3mm long, forked at base, filaments very short, inserted in notch at tip of corona lobes; pistil about 4mm long, style short, ovary conical. The berries are triangular-spherical, white when ripe, and contain 2-5 seeds. The flowering period is May to June, and the fruiting period is October to November.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing under forests, under thickets or on the edge of forests at an altitude of 160-1760m.

[Properties] Identification of properties: The rhizome is bead-shaped, 1-2 cm in diameter, with dense internodes, and the outer surface is dark yellow, sometimes green. The texture is hard, but the undried ones are more flexible. The fracture surface is light brown and horny. It has a slight odor, slightly sweet taste and is sticky.

【Functions and indications】 Tonifies Qi, nourishes Yin and moistens the lungs; promotes blood circulation. Mainly for physical weakness after illness; yin deficiency and dry lungs; cough with sticky phlegm; dry throat and thirst; traumatic injury
