【Other Name】Peppermint oil

[Source] This product is a volatile oil obtained by steam distillation, freezing and partial brain removal of the fresh stems and leaves of Mentha haplocalyx Briq., a plant of the Lamiaceae family.

【Properties】 This product is a colorless or light yellow clear liquid. It has a special refreshing aroma, and tastes spicy at first and cool afterwards. As it is stored for a long time, the color gradually becomes darker. This product can be mixed with ethanol, chloroform or ether. The relative density should be 0.888~0.908 (Appendix VIIA). Take this product and measure it according to the method (Appendix ⅦE). The brightness of rotation should be -17° to -24°. The refractive index should be 1.456~1.466 (Appendix ⅦF).

[Identification] Take 1 drop of this product, add 3-5 drops of sulfuric acid and a small amount of vanillin crystals, it should appear orange-red, then add 1 drop of water and it will turn purple.

【Functions and indications】Aromatic medicine, seasoning medicine and carminative medicine. It can be applied to the skin or mucous membranes to produce a cooling sensation to relieve discomfort and pain.

[Usage and Dosage] Oral administration, 0.02-0.2 ml at a time, 0.06-0.6 ml per day. For external use, apply in appropriate amount.
