[Original form] Yunnan Water Golden Phoenix, annual herb, about 35-70cm tall. The stem is light green with dense red dots. Leaves are alternate; there are two light red stipule-like verrucous glands at the base of the petiole; the leaf blade is membranous, oblong or elliptic-lanceolate, 5-12cm long, 1.5-3cm wide, with long pointed tip, cuneate base, coarse serrations on the edge, verrucous thorns at the tooth tip, green above, light green below, sometimes red. The racemes are axillary, with peduncles shorter than leaves, and 3-5 flowers; the flowers are lavender, about 2.2 cm in diameter; there are 2 sepals, lavender, obliquely ovate, no longer than 5 mm, the standard petal is nearly round, with a keel-like protrusion on the mid-rib on the back, the wing petals are 2-lobed, the lip is sac-shaped, with purple-red stripes and small dots, and the base is extended into a slightly curved spur; there are 5 stamens, and the filaments are flat; there is 1 pistil, and the style is short. The capsule is fleshy, cylindrical, and pointed at both ends. Flowering period is between summer and autumn.
