Antelope horn granules are a traditional Chinese medicine, which are granules made from processed antelope horns. Since antelopes are rare in my country, they can only be found in some areas of Xinjiang and the areas bordering Russia. They are also a first-class protected animal in the country. The state has laws strictly prohibiting their hunting. Antelope horns are expensive. Antelope horn granules are unique in treating many diseases and are highly praised by many doctors as a precious Chinese patent medicine.

Traditional Chinese medicine treats the root cause, while Western medicine treats the symptoms. As people become more familiar with Chinese patent medicines, more and more people like to use them to treat diseases. When you read the instructions for Chinese patent medicine, there are many Chinese medical terms that you don’t understand. The following introduces the effects and functions of antelope horn granules.

The efficacy and function of antelope horn granules

[Properties] This product is white granules; sweet in taste.

[Identification] (1) Take 1g of this product and place it in a 50ml volumetric flask. Add appropriate amount of water to dissolve it, then dilute it to the scale with water, shake well, and measure it by spectrophotometry. The maximum absorption should be at a wavelength of 275nm±1nm. (2) Take 2.5 g of this product and add 5 ml of 90% ethanol. Stir continuously to dissolve. After 15 minutes, let it stand and filter. The filtrate is used as the test solution. Take another glycine reference substance and dissolve it in 70% ethanol to make a solution containing 0.5 mg per 1 ml as the reference substance solution. According to the thin layer chromatography method (Appendix Ⅵ B of Part I of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia 1995 Edition), 10 μl of the test solution and 2 μl of the reference solution are respectively spotted on the same non-activated silica gel G thin layer plate containing sodium carboxymethyl cellulose as an adhesive, and n-butanol-acetic acid-ethanol-water (4:1:1:2) is used as the developing agent. The plate is taken out, dried, sprayed with 2% ninhydrin ethanol solution, and baked at 105°C until the spots are clearly colored. In the color potential of the test sample, the same pink spots appear at the corresponding positions of the chromatogram of the reference substance.

[Function and indications] Soothes the liver and extinguishes wind, clears the liver and improves eyesight, disperses blood and detoxifies. It is used for high fever convulsions, coma convulsions, eclampsia convulsions, epilepsy, headache and dizziness, red eyes and cataracts, plague and rashes, carbuncles and sores.

One bag of antelope horn granules weighs 2.5 grams. Adults should take 5 grams at a time, that is, two bags at a time, twice a day. Children can take according to their weight. Antelope horns are generally 28 to 30 centimeters long. The root of the antelope horn is brown-yellow, and the upper part is yellow-white, a bit like wax. There are circles on the top of the antelope horn. An adult antelope has about 20 horns.
