Leprosy vaccine side effects

Leprosy vaccine side effects

We have to receive various vaccines from the moment we are born. After the vaccination, our bodies will produce antibodies against the corresponding diseases, thus ensuring our health. When we are in school, we will get the flu vaccine, hepatitis B vaccine, etc. The purpose of the vaccination is to prevent us from being infected with the flu or hepatitis B virus, so that we can have a good body to study. Now let me introduce you to the leprosy vaccine.

The so-called leprosy vaccine is a drug used to prevent and treat leprosy. The purpose of leprosy vaccination is to make the human body produce leprosy antibodies and thus stay away from the harm of leprosy. So what side effects does leprosy vaccination have on our human body? Let’s explain in detail below.

Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae, with the main lesions occurring in the skin and peripheral nerves. The clinical manifestations are numb skin lesions, enlarged nerves, and even limb disability in severe cases. This disease is very prevalent in the world, and in my country it is prevalent in provinces and autonomous regions such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan and Qinghai.

According to national regulations, people with serious diseases, acute or chronic infections, and those with fever should delay vaccination; people with a history of allergy to eggs, pregnant women, people allergic to neomycin and those who have had allergies after previous vaccination, people with weakened immunity, and people with active untreated tuberculosis are prohibited from receiving leprosy vaccine. To ensure safe and effective vaccination, please provide your doctor with your current physical condition. After receiving the leprosy vaccine if you are physically fit, please observe at the vaccination site for 15 to 30 minutes; do not take a shower on the day of the injection to prevent infection at the injection site, and drink plenty of boiled water.

The national immunization program stipulates that children need to be vaccinated against leprosy when they are 8 months old. If leprosy vaccine is not available, measles vaccine can be used instead. Vaccines that are normally on the market can only be distributed to vaccination units step by step after the State Food and Drug Administration issues a batch release certificate, so the quality of the vaccine is guaranteed. 2. Most people will not experience any adverse symptoms after vaccination, but a small number of people will have general reactions such as fever, redness, swelling, pain, and nodules at the injection site due to their weak immune system or in the incubation period of the disease. Most of them recover within three days to a week. If there are adverse reactions after receiving the leprosy vaccine, it is recommended to take physical cooling measures in the early stage; 2. Continue to observe the symptoms and do not take medicine for the time being. If the symptoms worsen or other abnormal symptoms appear, go to a regular hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time.

It turns out that there are so many requirements and precautions for leprosy vaccination. I believe that through the above introduction, everyone should have a general understanding. If our family members experience redness, swelling and pain at the injection site after receiving the leprosy vaccine, we should observe them for a period of time. If there is no improvement, we should consult a doctor and receive effective treatment according to the doctor's arrangements. We must not handle the situation on our own to avoid causing unnecessary harm to our physical and mental health.
