How to use medroxyprogesterone

Threatened abortion: Take orally 4-8 mg once, 2-3 times a day. For habitual abortion, take 10 mg daily for the first 3 months, 20 mg daily after the 4th to 4.5th month, and finally reduce the dosage and stop taking the drug.

Dysmenorrhea: Starting from the 6th day of the menstrual cycle, take 2-4 mg orally once a day for 20 consecutive days; or starting from the 1st day of menstruation, take 3 times a day for 3 consecutive days.

Functional amenorrhea: 4-8 mg per day for 5-10 days.

Endometriosis: Start with 6-8 mg/day, gradually increase the dose to 20-30 mg/day for 6-8 weeks.

Functional bleeding, amenorrhea: 4-10 mg per day for 7-10 days, cyclical medication.

Hormone replacement therapy: In addition to estrogen, add this product for 12 to 14 days, 4.0 to 8.0 mg per day.

Adjuvant treatment of endometrial cancer: 400-1000 mg per week, or by injection.

Precautions

Contraindications: Patients with thrombophlebitis, thromboembolic disease, severe liver dysfunction, hypercalcemia, missed abortion, uterine bleeding, pregnancy or allergic reaction to this product are contraindicated.

Adverse reactions: Similar to other progesterone drugs, breast pain, galactorrhea, amenorrhea, cervical erosion or changes in cervical secretion, and male breast feminization may occur. Mental: nervousness, insomnia, drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness. Skin and mucous membranes: Allergic reactions range from itching, hives, angioedema to generalized rash and lack of defensive reaction. Gastrointestinal: Nausea and indigestion, particularly at higher doses. Body: Sometimes it can cause breast tenderness and abdominal bloating.

Precautions

1) This drug must be used under the guidance of an experienced clinical physician. If symptoms of thromboembolism such as migraine, decreased vision, diplopia, etc. occur due to the drug's enhanced coagulation mechanism, the drug should be discontinued immediately.

2) Some women experience reactions such as irregular bleeding.

3) It has a certain androgenic effect and long-term use during pregnancy can cause masculinization of the female fetus.

4) It is contraindicated for patients with thromboembolic diseases, liver and kidney dysfunction, breast tumors and miscarriage.

5) During continuous high-dose MPA treatment, attention should be paid to the presence of hypertension, water and sodium retention, hypercalcemia, etc.

6) This product may cause a certain degree of fluid retention. People with epilepsy, migraine, asthma, heart failure or renal failure should use this product with caution.

7) Patients with a history of depression need to be carefully observed, and those with severe relapses of depression need to stop taking medication. Some patients have reduced glucose tolerance when using progestins, so diabetic patients should use them with caution.
