Effects and functions of evening primrose oil

Drugs are very helpful in treating diseases. Different drugs treat different diseases, so there are some differences in the choice of drugs. Evening primrose oil is a less common drug. It is very helpful in treating skin diseases, and it is relatively simple to use. So what are the effects and functions of evening primrose oil?

Before choosing evening primrose oil, you should have a good understanding of its effects and functions, so that when using it, you will know how it helps in treating diseases and how to use it best.

Effects and functions of evening primrose oil:

Evening Primrose Oil Ingredients: r-linolenic acid, magnesium, zinc, vitamins C, E, B6, B5 Applicable: Formerly known as evening primrose, it can be used to adjust evening primrose oil, base oil and essential oil. It has multiple therapeutic functions. It can be made into capsules and taken orally to treat cardiovascular disease, premenstrual syndrome, and menopausal syndrome. It can be used in aromatherapy to blend lotions and creams, improve eczema, psoriasis, help wound healing, nail development, and solve hair problems. It is generally used at a dosage of 10%.

Has anti-inflammatory properties

GLA (γ-linolenic acid) will generate an endogenous substance - prostaglandin E1 through physiological and biochemical reactions in the human body. Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) can replace the physiological effects of PGE2 normally produced in the body. However, PGE1 has a stronger smooth muscle relaxant effect than PGE2. Therefore, it is speculated that it will help relieve asthma symptoms and lower blood pressure. Although many clinical trials at normal doses have not been able to support this claim, it has been shown to be effective for endogenous inflammatory factors, such as prostaglandins, in atopic eczema (P. Edben, et al., A study of evening primrose seed oil in atopic asthma, prostaglandins Leukot Essent Fatty Acids 35(2): 69-72 Feb. 1989). A group of Swiss biochemists led by Biagi conducted a study on a group of children with atrophic dermatitis caused by abnormal immune function due to abnormal IgE immunoglobulin levels. They used evening primrose oil to treat them. The results showed that GLA can effectively increase the concentration of dihomogamma linolenic acid (DGLA), a precursor of an anti-inflammatory endogenous substance, in the body. In the group that consumed high concentrations of evening primrose oil, significant improvement in symptoms was found.

Through a series of clinical trials, the anti-inflammatory effect of evening primrose oil was proved. Biochemists began to try to apply evening primrose oil to inflammatory symptoms caused by autoimmune reactions such as polyspondylitis and lupus erythematosus, and the results were also satisfactory (PC Calder, The effect of fatty acids on lymphocyte functions, Braz J Med Biol Tes, 1993; 9(26): 901-917). However, it is worth noting that deep-sea fish oil (W-3 oleic acid) also has this effect. Therefore, unless you are a vegetarian, you might as well take primrose oil and deep-sea fish oil together to relieve autoimmune inflammation.

Through the above introduction, we have a good understanding of the effects and functions of evening primrose oil. Therefore, we must pay attention to the correct selection of such medicines. However, it is very helpful for the treatment of psoriasis. However, before choosing such medicines, you can also consult a doctor to know whether it can be used.
