Common hemostatic herbs in the wild

It is very common to get scratched in the wild, especially in the forest, where there are many grasses and trees. It is easy to get scratched. So when bleeding, you must find some hemostatic drugs in time. In this way, we need to have an understanding of some herbs in the wild, at least to recognize the appearance of these herbs and know which one is hemostatic. So what are the common hemostatic herbs in the wild?

When doing farm work in the countryside, bumps and bruises, and external injuries and bleeding are inevitable. Children in rural areas are innocent and lively, and it is very common for them to get injured by falling while running, getting stabbed while picking fruits, or accidentally getting cut, and other external injuries and bleeding. Rural people are not afraid of this kind of minor bleeding, as they can find hemostatic plants in the fields and even keep them at home.

Prickly lettuce. It is very common and is also the preferred herbal medicine for rural people to stop bleeding. There is a Chinese medicinal name for the prickly lettuce, which is also a good hemostatic medicine among many Chinese medicines. Although it is called a vegetable, it does not taste good when eaten as a vegetable, so it is more often used to feed pigs in rural areas. If there is bleeding from external injuries, just crush it and apply it on the wound, it will effectively stop the bleeding.

Golden dog hair. The first two types are found in both the north and the south, but this type is probably hard to see in the north. The fine, golden hair looks very much like dog hair. When I was a child, my family had one that lasted for more than ten years. It can be said to be a common necessity at home. It has a very obvious hemostatic effect and is very convenient to use. Just take out an appropriate amount and apply it.

Gray bag. I once told a city dweller in the countryside that this was a ash bag, and he laughed and said "country bumpkin". Was he making fun of me? It is commonly seen on grass in rural areas. It is white when it first grows out, and gray when it matures. If you touch it, ash will fly out. Although it has a good hemostatic effect, it makes my hands dirty. Does anyone feel the same?

Smilax glabra. This is what we call it in our village, and its scientific name is Imperata cylindrica. It is a highly fertile plant that grows throughout the countryside. Perhaps what rural people miss most are the white and transparent roots, which make them sweet to their hearts. Although rhizomes are used to stop bleeding in traditional Chinese medicine, it is more convenient to use Imperata flowers, and the effect is more obvious.
