The difference between mugwort and white wormwood

The difference between mugwort and white wormwood

Sometimes when the weather is not good, people will get sick, such as coughing and sore throat. Although they are all minor problems, they often make us feel uncomfortable for a few days, so we need to master some common medical knowledge; of course, we don’t have to buy those professional cough medicines or antiviral medicines. Some Chinese herbal medicines can relieve pain just by boiling them in water. Today I want to introduce to you the difference between Artemisia annua and Mugwort. Let’s follow me to learn about it.

Artemisia white is a species of Artemisia grandis, a plant of the Asteraceae family. It is mainly used to treat swelling, heat, cough, sore throat, jaundice caused by cold and dampness, dysentery, gonorrhea, rheumatic arthralgia, vomiting blood, hemoptysis, bleeding from trauma, scabies and ulcers. The green part of this plant contains a sesquiterpene artemisinin, while the above-ground part contains artemisinin, artemisinin lactone and artemisinin.

Artemisia annua, also known as: Xiaomao, Bingtai, Ecao, Xiangai, Qi Ai, Aixiao, Artemisia annua, Artemisia annua, Penggao, Ai, moxibustion grass, medical grass, yellow grass, Artemisia argyi, etc.

It is a perennial herb or slightly semi-shrub with a strong fragrance on the main stem. The stem is single or very few, dark brown or gray-brown, slightly woody at the tip, mycelial at the upper end, and has very few short branches. The leaves are thick and papery, covered with short grayish-white soft hairs on the upper side, and the tip generally has no false bracts or very small false bracts; the upper leaves and bracts are pinnate-cleft, the head inflorescence is elliptical, the carola is tubular or high-footed red wine glass-shaped, with glandular dots on the outside, the anthers are narrow linear, and the style is nearly as long as the carola or slightly longer than the carola. Achenes are long oval or long ring-shaped. The fruit season is from September to October. Wolf grass is used as medicine, which has the effects of relaxing the meridians, removing dampness, removing cold, promoting blood circulation, reducing inflammation, relieving asthma, relieving cough and reducing phlegm, nourishing the fetus, and resisting allergies. The leaves of mugwort are dried and mashed to make "mugwort wool", which is used to make moxibustion patches for moxibustion and can also be used as the raw material for "ink paste".

The role of Artemisia

In clinical medicine, Artemisia annua is mostly used to treat subacute bacterial dysentery: take 2 liang of fresh Artemisia annua or 1 liang of dried slices and decoct them in water. Take it in 2 to 3 times, 1 dose per day, and one course of treatment is 5 to 7 days; or make it into oral liquid or tablets for oral administration. Among them, 100 cases were treated, 70 achieved clinical recovery within 3 days, and 23 achieved clinical recovery within 4-7 days. The chance of recovery is 93 percent.

According to the observation of some medical records, after taking the medicine, the body temperature recovered in an average of 1.35 days, the bowel movement recovered in 2.12 days, the abdominal pain disappeared in 1.55 days, and the anal prolapse disappeared in 1.68 days; the average time for stool microscopy to recover and the bacteria to turn negative was 3.02 days and 5.65 days respectively. Its efficacy is higher than that of Scutellaria baicalensis, Furazolidone, and Synthromycin.

The remarkable therapeutic effect of Artemisia is attributed to the organic chemical components of its roots, stems and leaves. Both sides of Artemisia annua have medicinal value. The green part of this plant contains a sesquiterpene artemisinin, and the above-ground part contains artemisinin, artemisinin lactone and artemisinin. The sesquiterpene r-lactone isolated from this ingredient has an inhibitory effect on gram-negative bacteria, Escherichia coli, etc. outside the body. It can effectively treat wind-cold-dampness arthralgia, jaundice, dysentery, scabies and malignant ulcers.

Its usage and dosage are extremely simple. It is generally taken orally, and can be taken orally by boiling it into soup or mashing it into juice. There was a record in "Seng Shen Ji Fang" before: To treat leprosy and sores all over the body: take ten bundles of white wormwood as big as a liter, boil them to extract the juice, add koji and rice, just like making wine, wait until it is cooked and drink it in small amounts.
