What are the effects and functions of danpi powder?

Danpi refers to the bark of the peony root, which is a Chinese herbal medicine that can be found in Sichuan, Anhui and other places. Different from some Western medicines, the Chinese herbal medicine Danpi is not toxic at all, so it will not cause harm to the body after taking it, and is less likely to produce side effects. Sometimes, the bark of dan is ground into powder for human consumption. So what are the effects and functions of the dan powder?

Indications

Heat enters the blood, warm poison causes rashes, vomiting blood and epistaxis, hot at night and cool in the morning, no sweat and bone steaming, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, pain from falls and injuries, carbuncles, swellings and sores.

Physiological characteristics

Deciduous shrub. The stem is up to 2 m tall; the branches are short and thick. The flowering period is May and the fruiting period is June. It likes warm and humid climate, is relatively cold-resistant and drought-resistant, is afraid of waterlogging and high temperature, and avoids strong light. It likes deep, well-drained, fertile and loose sandy loam or silt loam. Saline-alkali soil and clay soil are not suitable for cultivation. Avoid continuous cropping, and plant again every 3-5 years. The thousand-grain weight of the seeds is 198g, so it is suitable to be sown immediately after harvesting. It grows in sunny and fertile places and is often cultivated in gardens.

It is mainly produced in Hunan, Hubei, Anhui, Sichuan, Gansu, Shaanxi, Shandong, Guizhou and other places. In addition, it is also produced in Yunnan and Zhejiang. Hunan and Anhui have the largest production. The one produced in Fenghuang Mountain in Tongling, Anhui is of the best quality and is called Fengdanpi; the one produced in Nanling, Anhui is called Yaodanpi; the one produced in Dianjiang, Chongqing and Guanxian, Sichuan is called Chuandanpi; the one produced in Gansu, Shaanxi and Kangding and Luding, Sichuan is called Xidanpi; the one produced in Xichang, Sichuan is called Xichang Danpi and is of lower quality.
