The efficacy and function of the leaf

The efficacy and function of the leaf

Blood is a traditional Chinese medicine that is generally used to relieve constipation in patients. If a patient has abdominal distension, they will feel very uncomfortable in their stomach, unable to move up or down. At this time, they need to eat some laxative food.

The effect is to expel the debris in the stomach along with the Wei Qing, and the tropical plant Xieye can meet this requirement. So what are the effects and functions of Xieye?

It can relieve heat, relieve stagnation, promote bowel movements and promote diuresis. Used for: heat stagnation, constipation, abdominal pain, edema.

Taboo

It is forbidden to be taken by people with weak constitution, pregnant women, menstruating women and lactating women. Excessive dosage can easily cause abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting.

Senna leaves, also known as Chana leaves and bubble bamboo leaves, are the small leaves of the legume plants narrow-leaved senna or acuminate-leaved senna. They are native to foreign countries and are now introduced and cultivated in Guangdong, Hainan, Yunnan and other places in my country.

Senna is a commonly used medicinal ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine. It is mainly used to moisten the intestines and promote bowel movements. Some current weight loss supplements often contain senna leaves.

Senna is the dried leaflets of the leguminous herbaceous plants Cassia angustifolia Vahl and Cassia acutifolia Delile. Its nearly mature fruit pods (senna pods) have the same function as the leaves, but cause less side effects of abdominal pain after ingestion. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that this product is cold in nature, sweet and bitter in taste, and belongs to the large intestine meridian. It has the effects of clearing heat, relieving stagnation, promoting bowel movements, and promoting diuresis.

The efficacy and function of senna leaves

Senna

Modern research has found that senna leaves have pharmacological effects such as laxative, antibacterial, hemostatic, and antispasmodic. In recent years, it has been mainly used at home and abroad for intestinal cleansing preparation before various abdominal and intestinal imaging examinations or before surgery. It is mainly used to treat various constipation, especially senile and stubborn constipation; it also promotes the recovery of intestinal function after abdominal surgery. It can also be used for upper gastrointestinal bleeding, cholecystitis, and acute pancreatitis. It is the most widely used cathartic agent in the world. But its adverse reactions are also increasing.

1. Pharmacological action

Step 1: Laxative effect.

Senna leaves contain anthrone derivatives, which have a stronger laxative effect and irritation than other laxatives containing anthraquinones, so diarrhea may be accompanied by abdominal pain. Its active ingredients are mainly sennoside A and B, which are absorbed by the stomach and small intestine and decomposed in the liver. The decomposition products circulate through the blood and excite the medullary disc ganglia to contract the large intestine, causing diarrhea. The effect of senna is wide and strong, and

It is considered more suitable for acute constipation than chronic constipation.

Step 2: Antibacterial.

Senna plants can produce many economically valuable compounds. In addition to the laxative effect, some senna leaves also have antibacterial, antibiotic and detoxification effects. The aqueous extract of senna leaves has an inhibitory effect on skin fungi such as Trichophyton audouinii and Nocardia stellate in test tubes.

The alcohol extract of Senna obovata has an antibacterial effect on a variety of bacteria (Staphylococcus, diphtheria, Salmonella typhi, Salmonella paratyphi, and Escherichia coli). Its water extract is only effective against Salmonella typhi. The seeds of Senna auricularia auricularia can lower fasting blood sugar in dogs, and the whole plant also contains cardiac glycosides.

Step 3: Hemostasis.

Effective for gastric and duodenal bleeding. Use the aqueous extract of this product to spray on the bleeding area of the stomach under a gastroscope, and direct observation will show an immediate hemostatic effect. Intraperitoneal injection of 200 mg/kg senna glycosides can significantly shorten the bleeding time of mice. Oral administration of senna leaves can increase the platelet count and fibrinogen content, and shorten the coagulation time, thromboplastin time, plasma recalcification time, and clot contraction time. In addition, the protective effect of this product on gastric mucosal damage in rats induced by hydrochloric acid and indomethacin is also beneficial for the prevention and treatment of gastric and duodenal bleeding.

Step 4: Muscle relaxation.

It can block the transmission of impulses at the nerve-muscle junction and relax skeletal muscles. Senna can counteract the smooth muscle spasm caused by acetylcholine and gradually restore normal peristalsis of the intestine.

Step 5 is about cleaning the intestines.

Radiology departments like to use senna leaves to cleanse the intestines before abdominal plain films, colon and pyelography, and surgical abdominal operations, and patients also find it convenient. Even if the cleaning is not ideal, you can still perform a cleansing enema. After more than 80 years of practice, it has gradually been promoted.
