Can Imperata Root Cure Kidney Disease?

Kidney disease is often accompanied by urinary system diseases and symptoms such as edema. So can we use Imperata root to treat kidney disease?

1. The efficacy of Imperata cylindrica root

Imperata root has the effects of cooling blood and stopping bleeding, clearing heat and promoting diuresis. It is mainly used to treat fever, thirst, lung heat, cough and wheezing, stomach heat, vomiting, blood heat and bleeding, dribbling and painful urination, edema, jaundice and other symptoms.

2 Kidney disease and its common symptoms

Kidney disease is a very general concept. As long as the kidneys are diseased, it is called kidney disease. Therefore, there are many types of kidney diseases. Common kidney diseases include glomerulonephritis, hereditary kidney disease, urinary tract infectious kidney disease, glomerular disease, interstitial nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, etc.

Common symptoms include: edema, kidney pain, urinary pain, frequent urination, abdominal pain, polyuria, fatigue, urgency, urinary incontinence, kidney fire, renal failure, urinary retention, urine protein, facial edema, etc.

3. Imperata root can be used to treat acute nephritis

Boiling Imperata root in water has a good effect on acute nephritis and can shorten the course of the disease. According to the observation of dozens of cases, the urine volume usually increases significantly within 1 to 5 days after taking the medicine, and can reach about 1500 to 3000 ml per day. Subsequently, the edema gradually disappeared, and hypertension and urine test changes also gradually improved and returned to normal.

The main effect of Imperata root is to relieve glomerular vasospasm, thereby increasing renal blood flow and renal filtration rate and producing a diuretic effect; at the same time, renal ischemia is improved, renin production is reduced, and blood pressure returns to normal. Therefore, it is effective for acute nephritis, less effective for chronic nephritis, and almost ineffective for edema caused by liver disease and heart disease.

4. Imperata root remedies for treating kidney disease

1. Treatment of acute and chronic nephritis: 30-60 grams of fresh Imperata root and 100 grams of red bean, add water and boil, remove the residue and take the juice, 1 dose per day, divided into two doses.

2. To treat nephritis: 1 liang of Imperata root, 1 liang of Solidago asiatica, 5 qian of gourd shell, and 1 qian of white wine. Decoction in water, take in two doses, one dose per day, avoid salt.

3. Edema due to physical weakness (difficulty urinating but drinking a lot of water). Use a large handful of Imperata roots, three liters of adzuki beans, add three liters of water and boil until dry. Remove the grass food. The water is excreted in the urine.
