Strengthening the exterior and stopping sweating is used for spontaneous sweating due to superficial deficiency. It is mostly used to treat proteinuria in chronic nephritis, late-stage diabetes, etc. It is used to drain pus from carbuncles caused by qi deficiency that do not break for a long time, or do not heal after breaking. It is often used together with Codonopsis pilosula and cinnamon bark.
