Function and indications

Soothe the liver and strengthen the spleen. It is used to treat pregnant women, liver depression and qi stagnation, spleen deficiency and dampness, and abdominal pain. It is currently used for women with functional edema, chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, functional uterine bleeding, dysmenorrhea, appendicitis during pregnancy, as well as chronic nephritis, ascites due to cirrhosis, hypersplenism and other diseases caused by spleen deficiency and liver depression.

Grind the above six ingredients into powder. Take 6 grams each time, with warm wine, three times a day.

Fang Ge

Angelica, peony, Chuanxiong, Atractylodes, Poria, and Liuwei are used together. It can be used to regulate the liver and spleen to treat persistent abdominal pain during pregnancy.

Clinical Application

1. Correction of fetal position: Danggui Shaoyao San was used to correct malposition of fetuses in 100 cases of pregnancy over seven months. 87 cases were reexamined, 78 cases had corrected fetal position, and 9 cases did not. The results of follow-up observation of 63 cases (the rest had not yet given birth) showed that 56 cases had head position, 3 cases had foot position, 2 cases had breech position, and 2 cases had transverse position during delivery. It shows that for those with abnormal fetal position in pregnancy for more than seven months, this prescription can promote the fetal position to return to normal. However, during delivery, a small number of women were found to have abnormal fetal positions, suggesting that the fetal position can change repeatedly.

2. Abdominal pain after menstruation: Zheng, female, 30 years old. The patient had suffered from postmenstrual abdominal pain for half a year, which had worsened in recent months, so she came for treatment. She is short and weak, suffers from many diseases at a young age, has irregular menstruation after menarche, but her menstruation is regular. After menstruation, she has cramps and pain in the lower abdomen, which comes and goes. She likes to press it, but the pain becomes worse when pressed. Prescription: 12g each of Poria cocos and whole Angelica sinensis, 9g each of white peony root, Atractylodes macrocephala and Ligusticum chuanxiong, 6g of Citrus aurantium, 18g each of Cuscuta australis and Salvia miltiorrhiza, 15g each of Ligusticum chuanxiong and Viscum album. After taking five doses, the abdominal pain was gone, the back pain was relieved, and the spirit was refreshed. She was advised to take this prescription again after the next menstruation. Follow-up two months later showed that there was no lower abdominal pain after menstruation.
