Agrimony

Other names: Dragon Bud Grass, Yellow Flower, Golden Top Dragon Bud, General Mao.

Morphology: Perennial herb, the whole plant is densely covered with long soft hairs. The taproot is brown-black. The leaves are odd-pinnate compound, alternate, with small lobes between the leaflets. The leaves are elliptical, with serrated edges and many glandular dots on the back. Yellow flowers with 5 petals, terminal racemes. The fruit is small, with dense long hooked spines on the fruit base, and the flowering and fruiting period is from August to October.

The flavor is bitter, astringent and neutral. The whole plant contains agrimonycin, agrimony lactones, tannins, sterols, and the stems and leaves contain luteolin-7-β-glucoside, which can enhance immunity and kill cancer cells.

Fagopyrum truncatum

Other names: wild buckwheat, bitter buckwheat, golden buckwheat, golden lock and silver blossom.

Form: Perennial herb. The whole plant is covered with white soft hairs. The taproot is enlarged, node-shaped, and reddish-brown. The stems are branched, light green with a slight red tint. Simple leaves are alternate and triangular in shape. The cymes are terminal or axillary, with long pedicels covered with white soft hairs. The flowering period is September to October.

Properties: sour and bitter in nature, with cold roots, and the medicinal parts are the roots and rhizomes. Contains ingredients such as coumaric acid, glycosides erythritol, quercetin and ferulic acid.

Cephalotaxus chinensis

Other names: mangosteen, wild torreya, and rough torreya.

Morphology: small evergreen tree with reddish brown bark. The leaves are linear-lanceolate with two white stomatal bands on the back. Dioecious, male inflorescences are spherical and axillary; female inflorescences consist of several bracts. The seeds are oval and reddish purple when mature. Flowers bloom in April.

It is bitter, astringent, cold and poisonous in nature. Cephalotaxus contains taxanoate, deoxytaxanoate and isoharringtonine. All four esters can inhibit the division of cancer cells and promote apoptosis of cancer cells.

Other names: Yingri fruit, Wenxian fruit, Pinxian fruit, Milk fruit, and Udumbara fruit.

Morphology: Deciduous shrub with latex. Much branched, branchlets epidermis brown, sparsely hairy. The leaves are alternate, divided, and have obvious palmate veins. Inflorescence is cryptic. The receptacle is solitary in the leaf axils, pear-shaped, and fleshy. Mature in autumn.

Sweet and neutral in nature. Figs contain latex which has anti-cancer ingredients and can inhibit a variety of cancer cells such as sarcoma, breast cancer, myeloid leukemia, gonadal cancer, lymphosarcoma, etc.

Coral

Other names: swollen knotweed, nine-section tea, pheasant tea.

Form: Evergreen subshrubby herb. The roots are spicy. The stem nodes are enlarged. Single leaves are opposite, elliptical or ovate-oblong, with serrated edges. The flowers are light yellow and borne in terminal spikes. The fruit is spherical and red when ripe. Flowering and fruiting period is from June to September.

It is pungent, bitter and slightly cold in nature. The whole plant contains volatile oils, flavonoids, succinic acid and linalyl acetate, which have a direct killing effect on cancer cells and have a broad anti-cancer spectrum.
