This white grass is really magical.

This white grass is really magical.

I knew a story before, that Qian Mu's father invited Su Dongpo to his home to eat white rice. Su Dongpo didn't know what Qian Mu's father was playing at first, so he came to Qian Mu's father's home excitedly, ready to have a delicious "white rice". Unexpectedly, what was served was a bowl of white rice, a dish of radish, and a cup of white soup. Su Dongpo was very disappointed, but Qian Mu's father smiled and said, these three kinds of food in this meal are all white, isn't it "white rice"? Thus, the three-white rice became popular.

However, in this vast world, there are always some seemingly unrelated things that can make you associate them with each other. For example, the three white rice is associated with three white grasses. Is there really a plant called Tripterygium wilfordii in nature? It's really true that there is no coincidence in the world. Saurus chinensis is a perennial herb of the genus Saurus in the family Saururaceae. Most of them grow near water such as ditches and ponds, so it is also known as pondside lotus root. Generally, the whole plant of Tripterygium wilfordii can be used for medicinal purposes and can be harvested throughout the year, preferably in summer and autumn. Collect the above-ground part, wash it, dry it, and then use it as medicine.

So, what kind of medicinal value does this Tripterygium wilfordii have? Traditional Chinese medicine believes that Tripterygium wilfordii is sweet and spicy in taste and cold in nature; it enters the lung and bladder meridians; it has diuretic and anti-edema, heat-clearing and detoxifying effects; it is suitable for edema, dysuria, dribbling and painful urination, leucorrhea and other symptoms; if used externally, it can treat sores, swelling, eczema and other symptoms. For internal use, the general dosage is 15 to 30 grams; for external use, you can generally choose an appropriate amount of fresh product, mash it and apply it to the affected area.

The drug Tripterygium wilfordii is widely used in clinical practice. For example, it can be used to treat women's leucorrhea or insufficient milk. If it is a problem of leucorrhea for women, you can use 60 grams of Tripterygium wilfordii root and 120 grams of lean pork to make soup, drink the soup and eat the meat, one dose a day is enough. If the problem is insufficient milk, you can use 30 grams of Trichosanthes kirilowii and a pig's front foot. When the pig's foot is almost cooked, put in the washed Trichosanthes kirilowii. After cooking, eat the meat and drink the soup. One dose per day will be sufficient.

Tripterygium wilfordii is also very effective in dispelling wind, relieving itching, reducing swelling and relieving pain. For example, to treat pruritus scrotum, you can mash fresh Tripterygium wilfordii and extract the juice, which can be applied to the affected area. If the swelling is caused by athlete's foot, you can boil 30 grams of Tripterygium wilfordii in water and take it. If it is caused by furunculosis, you can take a handful of fresh Tripterygium wilfordii leaves, mash them, and apply them to the affected area, and change the medicine twice a day. If it is caused by rheumatism, you can use 10 to 15 grams each of Tripterygium wilfordii root, Achyranthes bidentata root, Imperata cylindrica root, and Moso bamboo root, boil them in water and take them, with brown sugar and rice wine as the guide.

Modern research shows that Trillium can also be used to treat liver cancer caused by damp-heat in the liver and gallbladder, and lung cancer caused by excessive phlegm and heat. In the treatment of liver cancer with damp-heat in the liver and gallbladder, the main clinical symptoms are progressive enlargement of the liver and gallbladder, hardness, rough surface, intermittent pain, and even ascites. Tripterygium wilfordii can be used in combination with Chinese medicines such as burdock root, oldenlandia diffusa, Scutellaria barbata, and Cypress. If used to treat lung cancer with excessive phlegm and heat, and the main clinical symptoms are fever, cough with abundant sputum, chest tightness and shortness of breath, then Tripterygium wilfordii can be used in combination with other Chinese medicines such as Peucedanum scutellariae, Apricot kernel, Follicle tarragon, Taraxacum mongolicum, and Rehmannia glutinosa.

In addition, Saururus can also be used to treat hematuria, carbuncle, stranguria, itching all over the body, low back pain, burns, vomiting blood, diphtheria and other diseases. However, when using Trichosanthes kirilowii clinically, it should be noted that patients with yin deficiency without dampness and heat need to be cautious. Patients with spleen and stomach deficiency and cold are generally not suitable for using Trichosanthes kirilowii.
