I had a happier time as a child, mainly because of the beautiful countryside and scenery. There are all kinds of wild fruits and flowers in the fields and hillsides of my hometown. When the flowers bloom, the whole mountain is full of colorful flowers; when the fruits are ripe, the trees are full of fruits. Such an environment is truly unforgettable. When we were young, we were a group of kids who loved wild flowers and weeds. As long as there were wild flowers and weeds, we liked to play there. Of course, the most important thing is to herd sheep and play at the same time. For example, we are all familiar with weeds such as plantain, dandelion, foxtail grass, thatch, platycodon, purslane, etc. When I was a child, I preferred plants with purple flowers. I still remember that when the Platycodon grandiflorum and Codonopsis pilosula flowers were in bud, we always liked to pinch the buds that had not yet opened with our hands. Every time we pinched them, they would make an intoxicating sound, like the sound of stepping on snow, which was particularly beautiful. But among the many purple flowers, a plant called wild violet or ground violet is particularly popular. Later, I heard from my grandfather that this purple gentian is a perennial herb of the Violaceae family, Viola genus, known as Viola yedoensis in traditional Chinese medicine. It tastes bitter and spicy and is cold in nature. It enters the heart and liver meridians. It has the effects of clearing heat and detoxifying, cooling blood and reducing swelling. It is suitable for carbuncle, back ulcer, erysipelas, snake bites and other symptoms. The general dosage for oral use is 15~30g, and the fresh product can be used externally in an appropriate amount, mashed and applied to the affected area. Viola yedoensis grows mostly in fields, wastelands, hillside grasses, forest edges or bushes. Generally, the whole herb is harvested when the fruit is ripe between May and June. The impurities are removed from the whole herb, washed with water, cut into small pieces, and dried before being used as medicine. Generally, it can be placed in a dry container in a cool, dry place away from moisture. Viola yedoensis is also widely used in clinical practice, and is particularly effective in treating various furuncles, carbuncles, redness, swelling, heat and pain. Generally, you can take the juice of fresh Viola yedoensis orally, and apply the residue to the affected area; or use it in combination with honeysuckle, dandelion, and wild chrysanthemum for better results. Viola yedoensis is also effective in reducing swelling and dispersing nodules. For diseases such as scrofula and tuberculosis of the neck, it can be used in combination with medicines such as Prunella vulgaris, Scrophularia ningpoensis, Fritillaria thunbergii, and oyster. Viola yedoensis has good effects of clearing heat and detoxifying, cooling blood and reducing swelling. It can be said to be a natural anti-inflammatory drug. The whole herb can be used to treat carbuncles, mastitis, pharyngitis and tonsillitis, icteric hepatitis, pharyngitis, conjunctivitis, furuncles, enteritis, snake bites and other diseases. However, patients with diffuse swelling of genital carbuncle without head and those with weak spleen and stomach should take it with caution. |
