"Compendium of Materia Medica" states that "Figs can cure five types of hemorrhoids, benefit sore throat, reduce swelling and pain, and relieve sore poison." Figs have no toxic side effects and can aid digestion and enhance cell metabolism. Patients with hyperlipidemia, coronary heart disease, chronic cough, asthma, hypertension and tumors should eat it regularly. Because figs are rich in nutrients, they are called: "The guardian of human health in the 21st century."

【Effects and functions】

According to traditional Chinese medicine, figs are sweet and neutral in nature. It can strengthen the stomach, cleanse the intestines, reduce swelling and detoxify.

It is used for loss of appetite, abdominal distension and pain, hemorrhoids and constipation, indigestion, hemorrhoids, rectal prolapse, diarrhea, insufficient milk, sore throat, heat dysentery, cough with sputum, etc.

Lubricates the intestines and promotes bowel movements

Figs contain malic acid, citric acid, lipase, protease, hydrolase, etc., which can help the body digest food and promote appetite. Because they contain a variety of lipids, they have the effect of moisturizing the intestines and promoting bowel movements.

Regulate menstruation and promote lactation

In addition to its functions of strengthening the spleen and stopping diarrhea, clearing the intestines and removing heat, regulating qi and digestion, relieving cough and removing phlegm, reducing swelling and detoxifying, figs are also a good medicine for regulating menstruation and promoting lactation. Therefore, patients with irregular menstruation or postpartum milk deficiency may wish to try fig medicinal diet.

Lower blood lipids and blood pressure

The lipase, hydrolase and other enzymes contained in figs have the function of lowering blood lipids and decomposing blood lipids. Therefore, they can lower blood lipids and reduce the deposition of fat in blood vessels, thereby lowering blood pressure and preventing coronary heart disease.

When the figs are ripe, they will become soft. At this time, wash them, peel off the outer skin and you can eat them. You can eat everything inside. Or after washing the figs, you can break them open and eat the flesh inside.

1. Laryngitis caused by lung heat: 25 grams of dried figs and appropriate amount of rock sugar. Decoction in water, 2 to 3 times a day.

2. Diarrhea in children: Wash 3 to 5 figs, cut into slices, boil in water and drink the soup, 3 times a day.

3. Bronchial asthma: Wash the fresh figs, mash them with the skin, take half a cup of juice, and drink it with warm water. It can be taken regularly.

4. Indigestion: Eat 2 fresh figs once in the morning and once in the evening.

5. Oral cancer: 60 grams of dried figs and two candied dates, boil them in water and drink the soup or gargle with them. It has a certain auxiliary therapeutic effect on oral cancer.

6. Pharyngitis: Wash and peel fresh figs, boil them in water, add appropriate amount of rock sugar or white sugar, mix it into a paste and take it orally.

7. Dry cough and sore throat due to lung dryness: stew 2 fresh figs and 2 candied dates in water until soft and eat twice a day.

8. Low milk supply after childbirth: stew 8 figs and 200 grams of pig's trotter.

9. Anal fissure: Wash 30 grams of fig leaves, boil them in water and use them for external washing, once in the morning and once in the evening.

10. Hoarseness: Boil 18 grams of dried figs in water and add rock sugar to drink. Or use two fresh figs, or three small ones, peel and slice them, mix with white sugar, honey or rock sugar, and eat three times a day.

11. Hemorrhoids, prolapse of the anus: Eat fresh figs raw, two large ones, three or four small ones, or ten dried figs and a section of pig large intestine, stewed.

12. Chronic diarrhea: Boil five or six figs in water.

[How to eat figs]

In addition to being eaten fresh and used for medicinal purposes, figs can also be processed into dried fruits, candied fruits, jams, juices, fruit teas, fruit wines, beverages, and canned foods. Fig juice and drinks have a unique and refreshing aroma, which can quench thirst and are suitable for both young and old.

Fig stewed pig's trotter

Ingredients: figs, daylily, 2 pig's trotters, ginger, garlic;

practice:

1. Cut the pig's trotter into small pieces;

2. Boil ginger, pepper, garlic and appropriate amount of water with figs until cooked, then add day lily and cook for 30 minutes;

3. Add salt, MSG and chopped green onion for seasoning.

Fig porridge

Ingredients: 50g fresh figs, 100g polished rice, some rock sugar;

practice:

1. Wash the japonica rice and cook it into porridge;

2. When the porridge becomes thick, add peeled figs and cook briefly. When the porridge is almost done, add rock sugar.

It is not suitable for patients with fatty liver, cerebrovascular accident, diarrhea, normokalemic periodic paralysis, etc.; people with loose stools should not eat it raw.
