The authentic Panax notoginseng is conical or spindle-shaped, 1-6 cm long and 1-4 cm in diameter. The surface is shiny black-brown, with a relatively flat top, unclear remnant of the stem base, and tumor-like protrusions around it. The whole body has intermittent longitudinal wrinkles, branch and root marks, and a few protruding transverse lenticels. Counterfeit products: Imitation products made from cassava are made from cassava, leaves and bark. They are mostly cone-shaped, with a fake protruding pseudostem mark in the center of the top, surrounded by 4-6 fake tumor-like protrusions, and false lenticels with horizontal protrusions engraved downward from the middle.
