Tuanchansu is usually in the form of flat round lumps or cakes. The diameter is about 7 to 8 cm and the thickness is about 1 cm. It is brown-purple or purple-black in color, with a flat and smooth surface, hard texture and not easy to break. The cross section is gelatinous and shiny.
