What is the medicinal value of toad venom?

Many people don't know about toad venom, but more people know about toads. In fact, the secretion vomited by toads is toad venom, which is poisonous and cannot be directly put into food. In life, some people have been poisoned after eating toads. However, toads or toad venom have medicinal value if used properly. Toad venom needs to be processed so that it can be used as medicine. So what is the medicinal value of toad venom?

The cardiotonic steroid compounds are bufotoxin compounds with structures similar to cardiac glycosides but toxic. There are more than 10 known species, most of which are decomposition products during the drying process, such as about 5% cinobufagin, about 3.4% resibufagin, about 1.8% bufalin, about 1.6% hydroxycinobufagin, about 1.5% bufotalin, about 1.4% telocinobufagin and marinobufagin, etc.; it also contains digitoxin, salamine, etc. The above-mentioned bufotoxins are often combined with suberyl arginine, pimeloyl arginine, succinyl arginine, suberic acid, sulfuric acid, etc. at C3 to form esters, collectively known as toad toxins, which are mostly present in the secretions of toads before processing. The types and contents of toad venom and toad venom in toad venom may vary depending on the original animal, origin, collection time and processing method.

The main indole alkaloids include bufotenine, bufotenidine, dehydrobufotenine, bufothionine and 5-hydroxytryptamine. In addition, it contains sterols, adrenaline and various amino acids.

Its main medicinal value is:

1. Toad venom has a cardiotonic effect similar to digitalis. Small doses can enhance the contraction of isolated toad hearts, while large doses can stop the heart in the contraction phase.

2. Toad venom and its ingredients have local anesthetic effects; toad venom has the strongest effect, which is 30 to 60 times stronger than cocaine but has no stimulating effect.

3. Toad venom has anti-inflammatory effect on formaldehyde-filter paper ball granuloma in rats; intramuscular injection of 9 mg/kg toad venom has a good therapeutic effect on rabbits with local infection of Staphylococcus aureus.

4. Toad venom has the effect of temporarily lowering blood pressure and then raising it. Respigonin, bufalotoxin, etc. have significant respiratory and blood pressure-raising effects; among them, respigonin is clinically used as a respiratory stimulant, with the trade name "Respigon".

5. Toad venom and toad venom compounds have anti-tumor and anti-leukemia activities, but the effects are unstable. If used in combination with toad venom preparations during treatment and radiotherapy, they can prevent the decrease of white blood cells to varying degrees, and can restore those that have already decreased.

6. Taking large doses of toad venom and its preparations can easily cause shortness of breath, muscle spasms, and irregular heartbeat, and ultimately lead to paralysis and death.

What is the medicinal value of toad venom? The article analyzes the medicinal value of toad venom. It can treat a wide range of diseases, and patients can receive reasonable disease treatment. However, you must pay attention to relevant matters when using toad venom, and only products that have been professionally prepared can be used. Do not process toads yourself. If the method is incorrect, it is more likely to cause poisoning and it will not form the correct medicine. At the same time, this medicine must be used under the guidance of a doctor.
