[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 10-15g, large dose 30-60; or soak in wine. For external use: mash and apply, or decoct in water for washing.

Medicinal prescriptions of Cistanche deserticola

1. To treat chest tightness and stomachache due to qi stagnation: 1 to 2 liang of Acanthopanax root. Decoction in water.

2. To treat diarrhea caused by food accumulation: 1 liang of Millettia repens. Decoction in water.

3. To treat infantile malnutrition: 50 cents of dried root of Millettia repens and one pig's stomach. Stew in water and drink.

4. To treat weakness, cough, leucorrhea and abdominal distension in women: 4 liang of Acanthopanax root and 4 liang of fried red basil head. Serve with stewed chicken.

5. To treat dysentery: 4 liang of Aconitum root and 2 liang of roadside ginger. Serve with stew.

6. To treat rectal prolapse in children: Use the head of the vine near the root. For the old ones, steam them with wine and dry them in the sun for ten times, then cook them with sheep intestines and eat them.

7. Treat rheumatic joint pain: 1 to 2 taels of Cistanche deserticola root or vine. Decoction with wine and water.

8. Treatment of appendicitis: 1 to 2 taels of fresh Acropora root or stems and leaves. Decoction in water.

9. To treat back carbuncle: decoct 2 liang of fresh Millettia repens in wine and drink; mash the residue or fresh leaves and apply to the affected area.

10. To treat injuries from falls: one or two ounces of the root and vine of Aconitum. Decoction with wine and water.
