There are many types of Chinese medicine, and each type has its own function and value. Therefore, no matter what disease we encounter in life, we can choose the corresponding Chinese medicine, so that we can get rid of the torture of illness as soon as possible. Many people don’t know what the Chinese medicine Pingwei San is. In fact, this is a very effective medicine for treating stomach problems. Let us learn about the Chinese medicine Pingwei San. Pingwei San was originally recorded in the Taiping Huimin Hejijufang, a preparation specification promulgated by the State Pharmacy in the first year of the Song Dynasty (1107 AD). The original prescription was for a powder, but it has been changed to a decoction in modern times. Its drug composition and clinical common examples are as follows: 15 grams of Cangmu, 9 grams each of Magnolia officinalis and dried tangerine peel, 3-6 grams of roasted licorice, 2 slices of ginger, and 2 dates. This prescription is a basic prescription for treating dampness in the spleen and stomach. Many prescriptions for strengthening the stomach and removing dampness in later generations were expanded and evolved from it. Therefore, the ancients praised it as "the holy medicine for treating the spleen." There is a note after the prescription that says: "Regular use can regulate qi and warm the stomach, transform old food, eliminate phlegm and fluid, and ward off wind, cold, dampness and unseasonal air of the four seasons." It can be seen that Pingwei San, created in "Ju Fang", is not only used to treat symptoms of spleen and stomach disharmony, but also as a regular health care medicine for harmonizing the stomach and digesting food. Therefore, later generations of doctors highly praised this prescription, and it has become the ancestral prescription for treating spleen and stomach diseases, and many stomach-soothing prescriptions are derived from it. In addition to Pingwei San, it has many aliases, such as "the most popular Pingwei San in the world" (Volume 2 of "Lingnan Weisheng Prescriptions"), "the most popular Pingwei San" ("Miscellaneous Famous Prescriptions"), and "the most effective Pingwei San" (Volume 19 of "Baoming Ge Nian"). From these aliases we can also see the great efficacy of Pingwei San. In addition, because the medicines in the prescription are used raw, it is also called "Shengliao Pingwei San". This prescription is a representative prescription for treating spleen and stomach disharmony and dampness obstruction in the middle burner. The formula uses a lot of Atractylodes macrocephala, which is pungent, strong, warm and dry, as the main medicine for drying dampness and strengthening the spleen; Magnolia officinalis, which is bitter, warm, pungent and dry, and can dispel fullness and reduce bloating, as the auxiliary medicine. The combination of the two medicines can both strengthen the spleen and soothe the liver, dry dampness and harmonize the stomach, and also regulate qi and reduce bloating. Since excessive dampness in the middle may cause stomach qi stagnation, tangerine peel is used as an adjuvant to promote qi and appetite, and to transform dampness and phlegm, so as to help strengthen the spleen; licorice root can benefit the middle burner and harmonize all medicines, so it is a laxative; ginger and dates also help harmonize the middle and serve as a guide. Judging from the composition of the medicinal flavors of this prescription, it is pungent, dry and bitter, and can disperse, eliminate and transform. It is indeed effective for those with dampness and obstruction in the middle burner. However, it should be noted that this prescription is mainly suitable for treating solid evidence, and is an agent for repelling evil (dampness). It cannot be taken regularly as a product for strengthening the spleen and replenishing deficiency. If you want to take it regularly, you must add or subtract ingredients according to the symptoms. Moreover, because most of the Chinese herbs in the prescription are bitter, warm and dry, they can easily consume yin blood, so they are not suitable for pregnant women. It is also not suitable for people with spleen deficiency, the elderly, the weak, or those with yin deficiency. The above introduces the Chinese medicine Pingwei San. We can see that the Chinese medicine Pingwei San has many functions. This will help us make better use of the Chinese medicine Pingwei San in our future life. Of course, we can also fully enjoy the benefits that the Chinese medicine Pingwei San brings us. However, pregnant women are not suitable for taking the Chinese medicine Pingwei San, and they must pay attention. |
