Castor seeds are a very good Chinese medicinal material. Some people say it is a kind of rapeseed, but it is not. Such appearance is the most tempting. The nutritional value of castor seeds themselves is very high. Its pharmacological effects are still very powerful. Some common diseases in life can be treated with castor seeds. However, many friends are not very clear about the effects of castor seeds. Are castor seeds toxic? The following introduces the medicinal value of castor seeds.

2. Compendium of Materia Medica: It is used to treat hemiplegia, aphonia, deafness of the head, swelling of the tongue, throat paralysis, asthma, beriberi, toxic swelling, carbuncle, burns caused by hot water or fire, needle piercing the flesh, retained placenta in women, protruding intestine, unblocking the meridians, stopping all kinds of pain, reducing swelling, removing pus and detoxifying.

3. Laxative effect: The oil in castor seeds itself has no laxative effect. It is saponified into sodium ricinoleate and glycerol by the action of lipolytic enzymes in the duodenum. Sodium ricinoleate is irritating to the small intestine, causing increased intestinal peristalsis. The contents of the small intestine are rapidly pushed into the colon. Semi-liquid feces are discharged 2 to 6 hours after taking the medicine, and there may be temporary constipation after defecation. Increasing the dosage cannot enhance the effect, and the unhydrolyzed part is quickly excreted into the large intestine. After ricinoleic acid is absorbed, it is metabolized and decomposed in the body like other fatty acids. Therefore, castor oil is relatively safe as a laxative. Due to its bad taste, it can be made into an emulsion for oral administration.

4. Castor oil can hinder the absorption of San Dao Nian, which is not caused by diarrhea.
