When it comes to plantain, some of you may not know what specific medicinal herb it is. In fact, plantain is commonly known as wheel vegetable, which can be found on the roadside, in the mountains and in gardens. 1. Anti-inflammatory effect: Oral administration of 0.5g/kg or 1g/kg psyllium pectin to rats had a significant inhibitory effect on inflammatory edema caused by formaldehyde or dextran.

2. Effect on the urinary system: Plantain has a certain diuretic effect, which can increase the water excretion of dogs, rabbits and humans, and increase the excretion of urea, uric acid and sodium chloride.

3. Antitussive, antiasthmatic and expectorant effects: Oral administration of plantain decoction at high and low doses to cats can significantly increase the cough electrical stimulation threshold of cats, and the effect is enhanced as the dose increases.

4. Anti-pathogenic microbial effect: Plantain water extract has different degrees of inhibitory effect on Trichophyton concentricum, Microspore Ringworm, Nocardia asteroides, etc. in test tubes.

5. Effects on the stomach and intestines: Giving 0.5g/kg of Plantain extract or infusion to dogs with Pavlov's small stomach and gastric disease has a bidirectional regulatory effect on gastric juice secretion; it has an antagonistic effect on the excessive secretion of gastric juice caused by rutin and the insufficient secretion of gastric juice caused by adrenaline. Plantain has an inhibitory effect on a working stomach, but has no effect on a resting stomach. Plantain can also temporarily increase intestinal fluid secretion, but has no obvious effect on intestinal motility.
