What are the medicinal properties of mistletoe

Mistletoe is called peach tree parasite. Although the name is not nice, it is a very common Chinese medicinal material with very high medicinal value. In clinical practice, mistletoe can be used to treat a variety of diseases, especially rheumatism, where it has a very powerful effect. Many people know very little about mistletoe. So, what are the medicinal properties of mistletoe?

Pharmacological effects of mistletoe:

1. Effects on isolated hearts

Heart rate was recorded and coronary outflow was collected every minute. The data were collected continuously for 5 minutes before and during administration, and the average value per minute was taken to compare the drug efficacy. The results showed that 0.25g of the crude drug diluted into 100ml of Rockwell's solution could significantly increase the coronary flow of a normally beating isolated heart, with an average increase of 97%. This concentration basically did not affect the heart rate.

2. Antiarrhythmic effect

After the injection of posterior pituitary hormone, the electrocardiogram first shows symptoms of cardiac ischemia such as tall and sharp T waves and elevated ST segment, followed by various arrhythmias, mainly ventricular premature beats, followed by sinus arrhythmia and bradycardia. In a few cases, atrioventricular conduction block and sinus arrest may be seen.

3. Prevent and treat acute myocardial infarction

After the guinea pig is anesthetized, its vein is cannulated for drug infusion. In the control group, 1 ml of ouabain was diluted into 20 ml, and each 1 ml contained 25 μg of ouabain for drip infusion. The dose of ouabain required to produce arrhythmia was then calculated based on the guinea pig's weight and the infusion rate.

4. Inhibit platelet aggregation

In vivo injection of 4 mg/kg total glycosides can significantly inhibit the MDA produced after AA-Na conversion metabolism. When the MDA content decreases, the optical density value decreases significantly, and the intensity of action is similar to that of acetylsalicylic acid.

5. Effects on cyclic nucleotide content in ischemic myocardium

After application, the cAMP/cGMP ratio of the ischemic myocardium at 1 hour tended to be lower than that of the ischemic myocardium in the myocardial infarction group at 1 hour (0.05<P<0.1).

6. Reversal of experimental hypertension

Bidirectional regulatory effects on abnormal changes of central enkephalin in DOCA-salt hypertensive rats.

7. Impact on immunity

It can be used in tumor treatment as an immunostimulant that promotes cell division to control and regulate the immune system.

Although mistletoe is a very good medicinal herb, it is better not to eat it casually without the guidance of a Chinese medicine practitioner. Because mistletoe does not have a specific host, and the host is generally poisonous, mistletoe also has a certain degree of toxicity. Eating it carelessly may cause poisoning, which can be very dangerous.
