What are the effects of cold and cool medicines?

Chinese herbal medicine has always been a precious treasure of our Chinese nation. A large part of the magic of traditional Chinese medicine is due to the selection and processing of Chinese herbal medicine. However, there are not many people who can quickly recognize the types of Chinese herbal medicines, and many people still know very little about Chinese herbal medicines. However, sometimes, you still need to buy some Chinese herbal medicines to treat diseases. So, how can we who are not familiar with Chinese herbal medicine identify the one that is suitable for us among the numerous types? Today I will tell you about a type of Chinese herbal medicine with a cold nature.

This question is very general. Cold medicines can relieve heat and toxins, but they have no effect on other things. This is what is meant by treating the disease with the right medicine. In addition, calming the mind is not the same thing. There are many reasons that lead to mental unrest. It does have a certain effect on certain kinds of insomnia caused by heat. Besides, there are many cold medicines, but not all of them can be taken.

Cold and cool are the same in nature, but different in degree. Cold foods help clear heat and detoxify, and can be used as an auxiliary treatment for heat-related diseases. All symptoms of real fire, such as red face and eyes, mania and delirium, coma and delirium, stiff neck, erosion of mouth and tongue, swollen and painful gums, dry mouth, preference for cold drinks, short and red urine, dry and hard stool, red tongue with dry yellow coating, and rapid pulse, can be cooked and eaten with this ingredient, which helps to clear away heat and cure diseases.

The first thing to consider when it comes to diet and health is "sex". "Nature" (or "Qi") refers to the different properties of food such as cold, cool, warm, and hot, which are called "four natures" or "four Qi" in traditional Chinese medicine.

Any food that is suitable for hot constitution and diseases is considered cool or cold food. For example, watermelon is suitable for symptoms such as fever, thirst, and irritability; pears are suitable for symptoms such as cough, chest pain, and sputum; these are all foods with cold properties.

Warm or hot properties are the opposite of cool or cold properties. Any food that is suitable for cold constitution and diseases is warm or hot food. For example, ginger, scallion, and coriander are suitable for symptoms such as colds, fever, aversion to cold, runny nose, and headache; dried ginger and black tea are suitable for symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, and preference for hot drinks; chili peppers and wine are suitable for symptoms such as cold limbs, fear of cold, and rheumatic joint pain. These are all foods with warm properties.

Neutral Foods are foods between cold and warm in nature and are suitable for people with normal constitutions, as well as those with cold or hot symptoms. Most neutral foods are general nutritional and health products. Such as rice, noodles, soybeans, sweet potatoes, radishes, apples, milk, etc.

An analysis of more than 300 commonly used foods recorded in Chinese medicine diet therapy books from past dynasties shows that most of them are neutral in nature; followed by warm and hot foods; and finally cold and cool foods. Generally speaking, in addition to having nutritional and health benefits, foods of all natures are of the Yin nature, and have the effects of clearing heat, purging fire, cooling blood, and detoxifying; warm foods are of the Yang nature, and have the effects of dispelling cold, warming the meridians, unblocking collaterals, and assisting yang.

Through the above explanation of cold-natured Chinese herbal medicines, everyone’s understanding of Chinese herbal medicines must have improved. In this way, when we need to use Chinese herbal medicines in the future, we don’t have to spend too much money to buy the herbs we want.
