[Habitat distribution] Growing in valleys, streamside thickets or under forests on hillsides. Distributed in Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Fujian, Guangdong and other places.

【Nature and flavor】 "Compendium of Materia Medica": "sour, astringent, slightly sweet, non-toxic."

【Functions and indications】 Clearing away heat and astringing. Treat hemoptysis caused by pulmonary tuberculosis, bloody stool, chronic dysentery, acute tonsillitis, acute otitis media, and otitis media.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 0.5 to 1 liang. For external use: decoct in water for washing or mash into juice for gargling or ear drops.

[Additional prescription] ①Treatment of rectal bleeding and hemoptysis due to pulmonary tuberculosis: add one to two liang of Alumensis leaves into the prescription and decoct it; it has a astringent and hemostatic effect. (Hengshan Folk Herbs)
