[Original form] Cyperus truncatus, perennial herb, up to 1m tall. The rhizome is short. The culm is thick, triangular, smooth, and slightly swollen at the base. The leaves are shorter than the culm, 6-12 mm wide, leathery, smooth, with rough edges. There are 6 leaf-like bracts, 2-3 of which are covered and longer than the inflorescence below; the long-branched cymes are compound or multi-compound, with 6-12 first radiates, up to 18cm long, each first radiate with 3-6 second radiates, usually shorter, up to 4cm long; the spike-like inflorescence is oblong or cylindrical, 1-3cm long, 4-10mm wide, with a very large number of spikelets; the spikelets are in multiple rows, closely arranged, linear-oblong, 4-8mm long, about 2mm wide, with 6-12 flowers, the spikelet axis is dark brown, with white transparent wings, which fall off early; the scales are loosely arranged, membranous, ovate-elliptical, with a short tip, about 2mm long, green, pale on both sides, with brown or brown spots, and 5-7 veins; 3 stamens, linear anthers, connective purple-red; style short, stigma 3. The nutlets are obovate, triangular, or triangular, about 2/3 the length of the scales, dark brown, and densely covered with fine, slightly raised dots. Flowering and fruiting period is September-October.
