[Source] Garcinia hamburgy Hook. f., Garciniaaceae , is used as medicine with its gum resin .

【Habitat distribution】Tropical regions such as Vietnam, Thailand and India.

[Chemical composition] This product contains 70-80% resin, mainly α-garcinolic acid (α-garcinolic acid, C 23 H 28 O 6 ), β-garcinolic acid (C 25 H 32 O 6 ) and γ-garcinolic acid (C 23 H 28 O 6 ); there are also 15-25% water-soluble gum, oxidase and trace amounts of volatile oil.

[Pharmacological action] Garcinia acid has a laxative effect. (Industrially used as pigment and lacquer.)

【Functions and indications】Strong purgative, hemostasis and carbuncle elimination. It is mainly used to treat carbuncle, furuncle, bruises, swelling and pain caused by wounds, and blood stasis. It can also treat red worms and edema.

【Usage and Dosage】For medicinal use only. The maximum dose is 0.5 mg per time.

【Note】 Very poisonous. Overdose can be fatal.
