[Other names] Panshan grass, mountain potato (Guangxi Medicinal Plant List), Tu Xixin (Hubei "Chinese Herbal Medicine Folk Prescriptions and War Preparation Album").

[Source] It is the whole plant of Asarum sieboldii of the Aristolochiaceae family. Harvested from April to October.

[Original form] Perennial herb with special spicy aroma. The rhizome is short, with dense nodes and many fibrous roots. There are 2 to 3 leaves, which are triangular-heart-shaped, fleshy, with white or light green spots, gradually pointed at the tip, and deeply concave at the base like an ear. The flowers are solitary, with extremely short pedicels close to the ground, and are light maroon; the calyx is bell-shaped, 3-lobed, radially symmetrical, and persistent; there are 12 stamens arranged in 2 whorls, and the filaments are short. Ovary 6-loculed. Capsule.

[Habitat distribution] It grows in fertile, shady and moist places beside valley streams and under forests. Distributed in Guangxi, Guangdong, Hubei, Xinjiang and Northeast China.

[Properties and flavors] Hubei's "Chinese Herbal Medicine Folk Recipes and Preparation Album": "pungent, warm, and toxic."

【Functions and indications】Sweating, expectorant, analgesic and swelling-reducing. Treat colds, headaches, coughs, asthma, sputum, toothaches, mouth ulcers, and injuries from falls.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 3 to 5 minutes. For external use: mash and apply, grind into powder and sprinkle or blow into nose.

[Additional prescription] ① Treating headache caused by wind-cold: 3 to 5 fen of Asarum. Decoction in water.
