[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Viola tianshanica, a plant of the Violaceae family.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 4-7cm high. The main root is cylindrical or inverted conical, yellowish white, with a few fibrous roots. The leaves are basal, spoon-shaped, 1-3 cm long, 0.5-0.8 cm wide, entire or crenate; the stipules are lanceolate, membranous, white, with tassel-like glandular hairs on the edges. The flower is solitary at the top of the pedicel, with a diameter of 0.5-1cm. The bracts are located in the middle of the pedicel, 2 opposite, linear-lanceolate; there are 5 sepals, with ribbon-like appendages at the bottom, 5 petals, symmetrical on both sides, the middle one is larger, with spurs, white, and with lavender stripes; the ovary is superior, and the style is slightly curved. Flowering period is June-July.

【Habitat distribution】Ecological environment: Distributed in Xinjiang and other places.

【Properties】 1. Property identification: This product is mostly wrinkled, broken, and the intact ones are 1-5cm long. The rhizome is short and thick, 2-4 mm long, with annular patterns and petiole residues. The taproot is relatively thick, 0.5-2cm long, grayish white to light yellowish brown, with irregular longitudinal wrinkles. The leaves are basal, wrinkled, and when the complete leaves are wet and unfolded, they are spoon-shaped or elliptical, gray-green, obtuse at the apex, cuneate at the base, decurrent, and have long petioles. The flowers are gray-blue, with 5 lanceolate sepals and 5 obovate petals, the lower one is larger and spurred. It has a slightly fragrant smell and a slightly spicy taste.

【Nature and flavor】 Slightly bitter; spicy; cool in nature

【Functions and indications】 Dispel wind and clear heat; detoxify and reduce swelling. Mainly used for colds, fever, furuncles, carbuncles, and swollen lymph nodes
