[Other names] Three-branched herb, snake scale grass (Guangdong Traditional Chinese Medicine Ⅱ).

[Source] It is the whole herb of the three-winged crescent fern of the Venus fern family. Harvested in summer and autumn.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 30 to 60 cm tall. Rhizome long and horizontal, slightly covered with brown, lanceolate linear scales. Leaves are distal, petioles are straw-colored, slightly hairy, and slightly scaly at the base. The vegetative petioles are 10-20 cm long, and the spore petioles are 15-40 cm long: the leaves are papery and herbaceous, black-green, generally with 3 pinnae, the top pinnae are oblong-lanceolate, 15-20 cm long, 3-4 cm wide, acuminate at the apex, rounded or rounded cuneate at the base, the lateral pinnae are about half the size of the top pinnae, long lanceolate, 4-10 cm long, 10-25 mm wide, long acuminate, rounded at the base, more or less sickle-shaped, entire, with a very short petiole, pinnate-shaped veins, lateral veins obliquely upward, connected, the connecting veins connected above and below, the mesh is slightly rhombic, and each vein is hairy; the spore leaf blade is slightly reduced, or not reduced. The sori are attached to the transverse veins, forming a linear pattern, and the sori cover is absent.

[Habitat distribution] Grown under forests or in shady places beside streams. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Taiwan and other places.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter and pungent, neutral.

【Functions and indications】Detoxification, swelling reduction and itching relief. Treat sores, carbuncles, swellings, bruises, edema, eczema, and skin itching.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 1.5 to 8 qian (1 to 2 liang for fresh product). For external use: grind into powder and apply on skin.
