[Source] It is the whole herb with roots of the Lamiaceae plant Hanxincao .

[Original form] Perennial herb, all covered with hair, 10 to 37 cm tall. The stem is square, erect, procumbent at the base and branched. The leaves are opposite, round, oval or kidney-shaped, 8-29 mm long, 10-28 mm wide, obtuse at the apex, heart-shaped at the base, with rounded serrations on the edges and densely covered with fine hairs on both sides; the petiole is 5-15 mm long. There are 2 flowers in the flower whorl, integrated into a lateral terminal raceme; bracts are ovate, with short soft hairs on both sides; there is a pair of bristle-like bracts at the base of the pedicel; calyx is campanulate, 2 mm long, covered with sticky soft hairs on the outside, with 2 lips, entire, and a sac-like shield on the back of the calyx tube; corolla is purple, 2-lipped, about 19 mm long, covered with glands and short soft hairs on the outside, the upper lip is slightly concave at the apex, and the lower lip has 3 lobes; there are 2 pairs of stamens, which do not protrude, and the anther cells are close together; the style is attached to the bottom of the ovary, with 2 lobes at the apex, and the nutlets are horizontal, ovate, and have small tubercle-like protrusions. Flowering period is from April to May. Fruiting period is from June to September.
