The raceme is terminal; the calyx is bell-shaped and 5-toothed; the corolla is funnel-shaped, slightly curved, orange-red to bright red, with dark red longitudinal stripes, about 4 cm long, and the upper lip is concave; the stamens are prominent. The capsule is linear, 2.5 to 5 cm long and slightly flat. Flowering period: spring.

[Pharmacological action] The decoction of leaves and stems was injected intraperitoneally into mice with low toxicity (one mouse survived or died within 24 hours if 1 gram was given to each of two mice). It has no significant effect on the isolated guinea pig ileum and toad rectus abdominis muscle, but has a stimulating effect on the isolated rat uterus and a vasodilating effect when perfused into the hind limbs of rats. Intravenous injection of 0.1 g/kg of the decoction has a blood pressure-lowering effect on anesthetized dogs.
