Why can’t power banks be checked in but can be brought on board the plane?

Lithium is a very unstable metal. It is very easy to generate high temperature and even spontaneously combust after being collided and squeezed. If lithium batteries are placed in checked luggage, the luggage will be squeezed and collided in the narrow cargo hold, which can easily cause the lithium batteries to spontaneously combust , posing a serious safety threat to the aircraft. Therefore, power banks cannot be checked in and can only be carried with you. Please note that each person should not carry more than 2 power banks. It is strictly forbidden to carry power banks with a rated energy of more than 160WH or unknown parameters. It is recommended that the rated capacity should not exceed 100WH . Power banks with a rated energy of more than 100Wh but not more than 160Wh must be approved by the airline before they can be carried.
