Recently, Xiao Zhu, a 20-year-old college student in Changsha, had just finished his exams and was about to start his summer vacation happily. However, he had to go to the hospital because of sudden shortness of breath. After completing relevant examinations at the emergency department of Hunan Aerospace Hospital, he was diagnosed with mediastinal emphysema and respiratory tract infection. Considering that Xiao Zhu was breathing too fast and unable to lie flat, and his condition was progressing rapidly, he was admitted to the intensive care unit for monitoring and treatment.

It was learned that Xiao Zhu usually does not like to exercise, and stays in the air-conditioned room for a long time when it is hot in the summer. This time, he stayed at home for many days after the exam and finally got sick.

Doctors say that when it is cold, everyone will prevent respiratory diseases, but when it is hot, they tend to ignore it. When it is hot and sunny, everyone likes to stay indoors with air conditioners, but if the air conditioner is not cleaned for a long time, it is easy to breed bacteria. Most doors and windows in public places are closed, and the air circulation is not smooth. If you stay in the air-conditioned room for a long time, it is easy to cause respiratory allergies and infectious diseases.

What is air conditioning disease?

Nasal congestion and fatigue, symptoms similar to a cold but not a cold, is this "air conditioning disease"? In fact, there is no such disease in medicine. It is a sociological disease name, usually related to the improper use of air conditioning.

Everyone has different physiques and adaptability to the environment, so the symptoms vary from person to person:

Some people experience coughing, nasal congestion, and diarrhea, which may be caused by the body's inability to cope with the rapid temperature change when suddenly entering a cool room from a hot outdoor environment.

Some people experience dry nose, dry throat, dry skin, and even nosebleeds. This is because the air humidity from the air conditioner is relatively low, which makes the indoor air dry and easily causes dryness of the upper respiratory tract and skin.

Some elderly people sleep in an air-conditioned room overnight and develop facial paralysis and joint stiffness the next morning. This may be due to facial neuritis and muscle and joint diseases caused by cold.

Some children sneeze, have a runny nose, or even suffer from allergies and asthma, which may be caused by the air conditioner not being cleaned for a long time.

How to stay cool in summer in a scientific, healthy and cool way?

1. Pay attention to ventilation every day, open windows regularly, turn off air conditioning, increase air exchange, and keep a certain amount of fresh air indoors. According to relevant departments, opening windows for 10 minutes can change the air in an 80-square-meter room.

2. People who work and study in air-conditioned rooms for a long time should engage in outdoor activities appropriately and drink more boiled water to prevent dryness and accelerate metabolism in the body.

3. Avoid direct cold air from the air conditioner. It is best to set the wind direction upward. Especially when you are sweating profusely, it is best not to blow cold air directly or turn on the air conditioner immediately. Cooling down too quickly can easily make you sick. Make sure to make a good transition between hot and cold.

4. Keep your skin clean and hygienic. Due to frequent entry and exit of air-conditioned environments and sudden changes in temperature, the bacteria attached to the skin can easily become blocked in the sweat glands or sebaceous glands, causing infection and suppuration. You should take a bath frequently to keep your skin clean.

5. Clean the air conditioner regularly and use disinfectants to sterilize, prevent the growth of microorganisms, and reduce the source of disease pollution.

6. Do not turn on the air conditioner in a stationary car to prevent carbon monoxide emitted by the car engine from flowing back into the car and causing carbon monoxide poisoning.

7. Exercise appropriately to enhance your physical fitness and prevent summer "air-conditioning disease" by improving immunity.
