ReviewPro released the Q1 2022 Global Hotel Review Report. By surveying 7,500 hotels in five major regions around the world, it analyzed review trends and hotel performance measurement standards, and explored how hotels can improve customer satisfaction in a changing market environment. Report highlights: With the recovery of the tourism industry and the growth of traveler demand, the number of hotel reviews in Q1 exceeded 1.351 million, a year-on-year increase of 46.5%. From the perspective of platforms, Booking.com has the most reviews, accounting for 39.2%, far exceeding TripAdvisor (10.1%) and Expedia (7.3%). The only one that can compare with Booking.com is Google, which accounts for 29.6% of the reviews. Due to the continued impact of the epidemic, the GRI index of global hotels in Q1 was 84.6, a year-on-year decrease of 0.7 points. Compared with the year-on-year decrease of 0.5 points in Q1 2021, the decline has further widened. The global hotel review response rate in Q1 was 61.2%, up 1 percentage point year-on-year, and the average response time was 3.8 days. Among them, five-star hotels had the fastest response speed, but it still took up to 3.5 days. Global: The number of hotel reviews increased by 46.5% year-on-year This report uses the Global Review Index (GRI) as a core indicator to measure hotel performance. Every 1 point increase in GRI means that core hotel performance indicators such as ADR (+0.89%), occupancy rate (+0.54%) and RevPAR (+1.42%) have all improved accordingly. From a global perspective, the GRI index in Q1 2022 fell by 0.7 points year-on-year, with three-star hotels falling by 1 point, and four-star and five-star hotels falling by 0.6 and 0.4 points respectively. The higher the star rating, the higher the GRI index of the hotel. The report data shows that the number of global hotel reviews in Q1 2022 increased by 46.5% year-on-year. As the tourism industry recovers, travelers are more active in posting reviews. Among them, the number of reviews on Booking.com increased the most, by 96.8%, followed by TripAdvisor (79.1%), Expedia (34.4%) and Hotels.com (36.2%). However, the number of reviews on Ctrip and its international site Trip.com decreased by 23.9% and 5.6% year-on-year, respectively. From the data of various platforms, Booking.com has the largest number of reviews, accounting for 39.2%, up 10 percentage points year-on-year, followed by Google (29.8%), TripAdvisor (10.2%) and Expedia (7.4%). Ctrip and Trip.com account for 2.3% and 1.5% respectively. On Booking.com and Google, a considerable number of reviews only give ratings without specific review content, while the reviews on TripAdvisor are more detailed. Compared with other platforms, the GRI index on Booking.com is lower, which lowers the overall value. Ctrip and Trip.com have the highest GRI index, with 91 and 89.9 points respectively (out of 100).
