According to data released by Prosper Mobile Insights in January 2012, smartphone and tablet users who used their mobile devices to compare prices while shopping were more likely to go to another store to make the purchase than the store (40.6% vs. 30.6%). Another 25% of respondents used their devices to purchase the item from another retailer’s website after comparing prices in the store. And 23.1% of users purchased the item on another retailer’s website using their laptop or desktop after leaving the store. 3/10 people use QR scanning. Research shows that 29.7% of people have scanned QR codes to get more detailed information about products when buying in stores. 35.8% use mobile devices to read reviews to decide which product to choose. 56.9% of Prosper survey respondents somewhat (32.8%) or very (24.2%) agree that being able to swipe their device to transfer money is convenient and useful, with 21.9% falling somewhere in the middle, however 7 in 10 users expressed concerns about security and having their location tracked. |
