[Source] Lichen Cladonia rangiferina (L.) Web., the lichen body is used as medicine.

[Habitat distribution] Distributed in Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan.

[Chemical composition] Contains protocetraric acid (C ₁₈ H ₁₄ O[XiaBiao]9), cetratic acid (C ₂₀ H ₁₈ O ₉ ), fumaprotocetraric acid (C[XiaBiao]22H ₁₆ O ₁₂ ) and ergosterol.

【Nature and flavor】Salty, cold.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and dampness, relieves pain, cools blood and stops bleeding. It is mainly used to treat knife wounds, rheumatic pain, hemoptysis, headache and migraine.

[Usage and Dosage] 2 to 3 coins, apply externally in appropriate amount, grind into powder and apply on the affected area.
