[Source] It is the bark or leaves of the sugar gum tree of the Apocynaceae family.

[Original form] Chicle tree, also known as noodle tree.

[Habitat distribution] Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and other places.

[Chemical composition] The bark contains bioalkaloids such as dithiamethoxam, dithialine, schefflera leaf alkaloids, pyrazine, dithialine chloride, dithialine, and dithialine alkaloids. It also contains dithiathene, dithiarin, fusinic acid, α-amyrin, α-amyrin acetate, lupulus acetate, stigmasterol, β-sitosterol, campesterol or its isomers.

【Pharmacological action】 ①Expectorant and antitussive effect

[Nature and flavor] "Luchuan Materia Medica": "cold in nature, slightly bitter."

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies, stops bleeding and reduces swelling. Treat colds, pneumonia, whooping cough, stomach pain, diarrhea, vomiting during pregnancy, trauma, and ulcer bleeding.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction. For external use: grind into powder and sprinkle.

[Additional prescription] ① Treat whooping cough, cough, stomachache, diarrhea, and vomiting during pregnancy: stir-fry three to four grams of Lamppost leaves, and decoct in water for oral administration. (Yunnan Chinese Herbal Medicine)
