[Chemical composition] The root contains trans-decene-2-triyne-4,6,8-acid methyl ester, tridecene-1-pentayne-3,5,7,9,11,β-sitosterol.

[Properties and flavors] "Fujian Chinese Herbal Medicine": "Light, slightly warm."

【Functions and indications】Sedative and antispasmodic, dispelling wind and stasis. Treat tetanus, epilepsy, rheumatic pain, bruises and pain, and scrofula.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 0.5-1 liang; or stew with meat. For external use: mash and apply.

[Additional prescription] ① Treat tetanus: 4 liang to 50 jin of red bone castor root, 5 qian to 1 liang of cicada truffle, 1 liang to 2 liang of sweet olive. Boil 1,000 ml of water until it is reduced to 200 ml. Take orally in three doses, one dose per day. The dosage for children should be reduced accordingly. In addition, 5,000 to 10,000 units of tetanus antitoxin (3,000 to 6,000 units for children) is injected intrathecally. Generally, it is only injected once and may not be necessary in mild cases.
